Looking at the Past…
Friends for Animals – Humane Society of Burke County began in the backyard of its founders, Toni and Ed Davis, in 1997, and later moved to the adoption center in 2003. The Organization has grown into one of the largest no kill shelters in Western NC.
Once an animal is in our care it is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm tested before going into its forever home. We believe in giving our animals the best chance at the happy, healthy life they deserve.
Meet Our Director
Chastity Chapman
Chastity has been engaged with FFA for numerous years. First, she was a volunteer and then worked as a Veterinary Assistant with the Vet who cares for the animals here. She has been an integral part of the success of FFA for over 10 years. Her medical experience is advantageous in taking care of our furry friends, but her passion for animals is what makes her the perfect choice to be our Director. She officially began her role on June 1, 2022.
Chastity’s vision is for every animal to feel safe and loved while under FFA’s care until they find their forever home. You know this is true from the moment that you meet her. Chastity has many duties as Director. She is responsible for the operations of the facility, the overall care of
the animals, managing the staff and volunteers, along with ensuring that all work together for the good of the animals. She understands the need to find innovative ways to bring in revenue to cover the costs of housing, spay/neuter, veterinary care and vaccinations. Chastity is committed to educating the community on the necessity and impact of spaying/neutering.
Along with her other duties, Chastity enjoys spending time with future animal parents finding their perfect forever pet. Chastity lives the slogan of “Love is Found at Friends for Animals”.
